The Suite Experience of a New York Mets Game

Get an inside look at the Suite Section of Citi Field

On Saturday, April 11th, the New York Mets squared off against the Oakland Athletics. For this game, I had the privilege of being able to watch it from the Suite Section of Citi Field. Securing these tickets wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for one man, Giovanni Lu. Giovanni is a lifelong Mets fan who has been buying out suites for nearly 20 years. He also runs a Mets Facebook group, where he tries to gather fans to attend his Suite Section parties. Before the game started, I got a chance to speak with Giovanni about why he’s been arranging these parties for so long. “I usually don’t make a lot of money doing these events. I just like to meet new people and bond with them over our love of the Mets.” I also got the opportunity to interview Giovanni’s wife, Katherine, about her feelings towards her husband’s hobby. “He does all of this out of the kindness of his heart. He loves meeting other fans, making them smile, and giving them a special experience, and that’s why I love him.” Another person who has high praise for Giovanni is Michael Ricardo. Ricardo met Giovanni through Facebook and has been attending his suite parties for several years. “Giovanni and Citi Field always do an amazing job at putting these events together. I’ve been coming to these suites for nearly a decade and every time is more fun than the last.” If one thing is for sure, it’s that Giovanni knows how to provide fans with the ultimate baseball game experience.
